Washington Society of CPAs honors J. Newton Rumble with Community Leadership Award
Bellevue, WA (April 23, 2019) J. Newton (Newt) Rumble, CPA, of Vancouver, Wash., a member of the Washington Society of CPAs (WSCPA) for more than three decades and an active community volunteer, will receive the organization’s Community Leadership Award.
Vice President of the Board of Directors of Peterson & Associates, P.S., Newt has been an advocate for the WSCPA Vancouver Area Chapter, serving on their board for many years, encouraging attendance at the leadership summit, ensuring the WSU Vancouver campus students know about the WSCPA, and promoting the CPA profession.
“Newt has been involved in advocating for the CPA profession,” said WSCPA President & CEO Kimberly Scott. “He has good relationships with legislators in the area and he is always willing to reach out to help the profession in Washington State.”
“He has served numerous organizations in the Vancouver area and we are pleased to honor him,” Scott said.
When notified of the award, Newt responded, “I am humbled and deeply honored that my peers and friends in the community have nominated me, and even more so to have been selected. There are undoubtedly CPAs in every community who would qualify as award recipients, and I have known many of them throughout my career. CPAs are often the movers, and as well – the doers, in their communities.”
Newt is currently, or has previously been, involved with the Rotary Club of Clark County, Clark College Foundation, Southwest Washington Medical Center (now known as PeaceHealth) Foundation, Clark County 4-H Clubs, numerous wildlife conservation organizations, church boards and other community leadership activities. He has been a strong voice for access to affordable educational and vocational development opportunities, and has been instrumental in the implementation of several educational endowments for students.
The award presentation is scheduled for May 2 at the WSCPA Members’ Reception at the Hilton Downtown Vancouver.
